Jynes reports that he then notified Troop F Dispatch that he was in pursuit of a vehicle traveling into Lincoln County, and asked for Star City Police and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office to assist.
Jynes was able to catch up to a white Ford F250 as they entered Star City. He then attempted a pit maneuver on the truck, with the truck hitting its brakes during the process, causing Jynes to hit the rear bumper and rear tire of the truck. Both vehicle then came to a stop at the intersection of US Highway 425 and Church Street.
Jynes then conducted a felony stop where he placed the driver, 18-year-old Dakota Chadick Thompson and a passenger identified as 21-year-old John Logan of Star City, under arrest.
Thompson was read his rights at the scene, then informed Jynes that he thought someone was trying to race him, and that he did not hear the siren and did not see the blue lights as he traveled south into Star City. Jynes noticed that Thomson’s eyes appeared glass-like and he could smell a strong odor of alcohol on him.
Thompson admitted to Jynes that he had been drinking, then subsequently blew a .21 on a breath test.
Additionally, a dead deer was located in the bed of the truck, along with guns in the vehicle. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission was then contacted about the deer.
Thompson was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was charged with fleeing, speeding more than 15 MPH over the speed limit, reckless driving, possession of alcohol by a minor, having an open container in a vehicle, and DWI.
