The Traffic and Aviation Committee of the Pine Bluff City Council on Tuesday went against a recommendation from the Planning Commission on placing a no dumping sign on the parking area of the new fishing pier on King Street.

Here is the exchange between Regional Planner Larry Reynolds, Council Member Joni Alexander, chairman of the committee, and Council Member Ivan Whitfield, who is on the committee.

Reynolds was given the OK to work with Assistant Parks Director Trudy Redus in finding the best place to put the sign.

In a related move, the committee agreed to a request to put no parking signs on King Street. Reynolds said in 2017, a similar request was approved but the signs were never put up.

The committee also approved the placement of no parking signs on 7th Avenue between Franklin Street and Oakwood Road, and rejected requests for stop signs on 34th Avenue and Old Main Street and speed control signs on Tomahawk which is a one-block dead-end street off Oakwood Road. All three of those votes followed recommendations from the Planning Commission.
