LITTLE ROCK — Police are investigating after a toddler drowned at a Little Rock apartment complex Tuesday.
Officers were called at 6:15 p.m. to Spanish Rock Apartments, a residential complex just south of Mara Lynn Road that has a swimming pool.
When officers arrived, they found a three-year old child had drowned, police reported.
MEMS took the child to the hospital and attempted to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at 6:55 p.m.
“Tried to give him mouth to mouth resuscitation trying to bring him back and that’s what we did and we just tried man, we did all we could to try and save that child,” says James Taylor.
Witnesses say they heard a lot of screaming, trying to get help.
A spokesperson with Trinity Property Management, LLC, who manages the property where the child drowned Tuesday evening, released the following statement: “We are deeply saddened by the death of the 3yr child at our property. We don’t have all of the details but somehow the child was able to make it over the fence and in to the pool after hours. CPR was performed by both the person that jumped the fence and found him, as well as by one of our staff members that also jumped the fence to assist. We send our deepest condolences to the family.”
According to the police report, the 33-year-old mother told police she was in the apartment and did not realize her son had left until someone told her.
