It’s Election Day 2018.  Polls are open from 7:30am to 7:30pm today in the 2018 mid-term election.

The most notable local race on the ballot is Pine Bluff’s Ward 1 Alderman, where Joni Alexander and Rev. Jesse Turner are running against each other.

Both are political newcomers.

Turner touts his experience with programs such as Weed and Seed, which helped revitalize some areas of the city, while Alexander says her time working under former Mayor Debe Hollingsworth, along with her experience managing large budgets, makes her the best choice.

Arkansans will also be voting for the state’s top executive job.

Incumbent Governor Asa Hutchinson is facing Democrat Jared Henderson and Libertarian Mark West.

Of local interest is the Ballot Issue Number 4, which would legalize casino gambling and allow a casino/resort to be built in Pine Bluff.
