In addition to being a beloved rock star, Eddie Vedder is also a huge baseball fan. That, of course, begs the question: what would he choose as his walk-up song?
That’s what sports journalist Lindsay Czarniak asked the Pearl Jam frontman during a new episode of her The Artist and the Athlete podcast. His answer? “Give Me the Cure” by Fugazi.
“There’s certain songs that just, like, the sound of them — it’s like a drug,” Vedder explained. “So that’s what I would use.”
The episode also featured MLB player Anthony Rizzo, the first baseman for Vedder’s favorite baseball team, the Chicago Cubs. The two shared their memories of the Cubs’ 2016 World Series win, which ended the team’s 108-year wait for a championship, and Vedder shared the story behind his Cubs-inspired song, “All the Way.”
