Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins reveals his favorite Foo song during an interview with Matt Wilkinson on Apple Music 1.

“I would say without a doubt, it would be ‘Aurora,"” Hawkins says, referring to the track off the 1999 album There Is Nothing Left to Lose.

“I just think it’s really, I love that side of Dave [Grohl],” the drummer adds. “I love it when Dave gets in his almost yacht rock softness in his voice and he double tracks his voice really nice.”

“Aurora” also holds a special place in Hawkins’ heart because it was the first song he recorded with the Foos after he joined the band in 1997.  As for his favorite Foo song before he joined, Hawkins picks “This Is a Call,” a track off the group’s 1995 debut album.

“I was playing with Alanis [Morissette] and we were all in the van, traversing the Foo Fighters, playing all the same clubs as they were,” Hawkins recalls. “And it was just funny, and we just wore that album out. And ‘This Is a Call’ might be my favorite Foo Fighters song of all time, too.”

Foo Fighters will release their new album, Medicine at Midnight, featuring the lead single “Shame Shame,” on February 5, 2021.
