The Smashing Pumpkins are teasing something.

The partially reunited alt-rockers — now consisting of original members Billy Corgan, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin — have launched a series of five countdown clocks via their website, SmashingPumpkins.com.

The first clock is set to hit zero just after midnight ET on Friday, August 28. The others are scattered throughout the next few months, with the fifth and final countdown set to wrap up in November.

The Pumpkins didn’t offer any further info as to what they’re teasing, but it seems likely that new music is forthcoming. In February, Corgan told The Tennessean that the band was working on a double album set to be released later in 2020, so perhaps that’s what the countdown’s for.

After announcing their reunion in 2018, The Smashing Pumpkins released Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol. 1/LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun., the band’s first album to include Corgan, Iha and Chamberlin in nearly 20 years. However, in that interview with The Tennessean, Corgan says that the upcoming double record will be the “first real album” by the Pumpkins since the reunion.
