The Smashing Pumpkins have dropped two new songs: “Cyr” and “The Colour of Love.”

Both songs are a bit more synth-heavy than you might expect from the ’90s alt-rock heroes — “Cyr” in particular has a very dance-y, gothic, Depeche Mode-esque vibe. You can download both tracks now via digital outlets.

“‘Cyr’ is dystopic folly,” says frontman Billy Corgan. “One soul against the world sort of stuff, set against a backdrop of shifting loyalties and sped up time. To me it stands as both hopeful and dismissive of what is and isn’t possible with faith.”

The two tracks mark the first previews of an upcoming new Smashing Pumpkins album, the details of which will be “revealed soon,” a press release promises. The effort will follow 2018’s Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol. 1/LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun., which marked the first Pumpkins record in nearly 20 years to feature founding members Corgan, guitarist James Iha and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin.
