Wednesday was the first day that kids were back in the classrooms and also the first day that students from the former Dollaway School District attended classes with students from the Pine Bluff School District.

With many of the recent homicides involving both victims and suspects who were teenagers, Pine Bluff Police Chief Denise Richardson and Pine Bluff School District Superintendent Jennifer Barbaree joined forces and appeared together on the Oldies 1013 morning show.

Host Greg Horne asked Barbaree how that first day went and she responded this way.

The campus at Pine Bluff High School is an open campus, meaning anyone can walk on and Richardson was asked how concerned the police department is about that.

With a new high school campus being planned now that a millage increase has been approved by voters, Barbaree was asked how much consideration will be given to security issues at that new campus.

She then went on to say this.

Horne then asked Richardson if having to provide security for the schools in addition to everything else they do puts a strain on the department.
