The City of Pine Bluff and Quapaw Nation partner up to open new fire station

The City of Pine Bluff and the Quapaw Nation teamed up for the ribbon cutting for the official opening of a new fire station located at 3609 Market Street on the property of the Saracen Casino Resort Wednesday morning.

The new station will replace the station located on Commerce Road that many city officials called “outdated”.

Chief Shauwn Howell gave his thoughts on the new station in the video below:

Joseph Byrd, the Chairman of Quapaw Nation also gave his thoughts on the new station and partnership with the city.

Quapaw Nation Director of EMS Zack Turley was on hand to give his thoughts on the new station as well.

The station will also host a new substation for the Pine Bluff Police Department. Chief Kelvin Sergeant gave his thoughts on the new station in addition to holding a moment of silence for Detective Kevin Collins, who tragically lost his life in a shooting on Monday.

Finally, Mayor Shirley Washington spoke on the opening of the new station.
