Authorities with the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff say a student has died after a shooting.
On Monday, police reported that Sierra’li Wade died from gunshot wounds she sustained while playing basketball in Lake Village, which is Wade’s hometown.
Wade was a freshman at UAPB, an ROTC cadet, and a student-athlete.
The university issued a statement via it’s Facebook page saying: “The Pride mourns the loss of freshman ROTC cadet and student-athlete Sierra’li Wade. Wade died from gunshot wounds she sustained while playing basketball in her hometown of Lake Village. This news is truly devastating for our campus community—even more so because it occurred as we approach the Thanksgiving holiday. There are no further details at this time, but we will continue to keep you informed during this very difficult period of grieving. Over the holiday break, please say a prayer for Wade’s family and friends.
