Delays in the installation of new air conditioning units at the Star City Middle School will cause a temporary displacement of some students, according to Superintendent Jordan Frizzell. The delays are attributed to COVID pandemic.

Frizzell said the air conditioning manufacturer had guaranteed delivery before school starts on Aug. 16 but is awaiting materials to finish the construction of the new units.

According to the Lincoln Ledger newspaper, 7th and 8th grade students will be displaced to the Middle School Gym, Arena, Middle School 2 building, and the High School Auditorium. Sixth grade students will not be displaced as the district will have temporary air conditioning units in that part of the building.

Frizzell said the new rooftop air conditioning units are expected to be on site the week of Aug. 23 and workers will need a few days to get them installed. Once the new units are installed, students will return to the main building.
