Pine Bluff Mayor Shirley Washington has announced that there will be a ribbon-cutting for the downtown Streetscape project Saturday as the city celebrates Juneteenth.

Washington made the announcement during a meeting of the City Council’s Public Works Committee Wednesday and said city officials had started partially planning for the ribbon cutting but we’re not sure everything was ready. She went on to say that she did not want to wait until the fall when the weather got cooler to do the ribbon cutting.

Council Member Glen Brown, Jr., asked Washington about the landscaping downtown, describing it as “looking wild.”
