Longtime Pine Bluff resident, Steven Shaner, will formally announce his candidacy for the Ward 2 seat of the Pine Bluff City Council at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 21st at his residence.
Shaner believes the citizens of Pine Bluff deserve honest representatives with a proven history of successful business leadership, integrity, and community involvement. He is running as result of his passion for Pine Bluff and his desire to see it continue on its restorative path. Steven feels strongly that the pieces are in place to make major improvements soon and wants to ensure that Pine Bluff continues to experience positive change.
As the Service Department Manager of the Smart Auto Group for over fifteen years, this will be Shaner’s first run for any public office. For Ward 2 constituents, this translates to an unbiased representative without previous political connections or influencers. While he will be bringing in a fresh perspective and new ideas, his plan is to continue the City Council’s recent trend of working as a team while making decisions that benefit the city and its residents.
Mr. Shaner is a graduate of Leadership Pine Bluff, a member of the Downtown Pine Bluff Rotary Club, Fifty for the Future, and has served on several committees for the United Way of Southeast Arkansas. He is married to Laura Beth Smart Shaner and they have two children who Steven enjoys coaching in various sports.
