The Drew County Sheriff’s Office has asked the Arkansas State Police to take over the investigation into a 2020 murder case.
According to the Advanced Monticellonian newspaper, Drew County Sheriff Tim Nichols and the 10th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorneys’ Office filed a formal request with the State Police Criminal Investigation Division.
Marquis Martin, 26, of Wilmar was reported missing around Feb. 9, 2020 and his body was recovered March 7, 2020 in an area north of Wilmar.
Nichols said he has also contacted the FBI and said the FBI will assist the State Police as they can.
The Drew County Sheriff’s Department had previously handling the investigation.
