State sponsored auctions of tax delinquent property generated dollars for three southeast Arkansas counties recently.

According to the McGehee Dermott Times-News newspaper, 23 of the 55 available properties in Desha County were sold, generating $326,000 while in Chicot County, there were 33 parcels sold of the 183 that were available and a total of $36,169.48 was collected.

In Lincoln County, The Lincoln Ledger newspaper reported that the tax delinquent property auction drew 13 bidders who bought 15 of the available 29 properties for a total of $34,449.08 to the county and state government.

The State Land Commission’s Office holds one auction in each county each year to return tax delinquent property to active use. The 2020 auction was cancelled because of COVID-19 and the 2021 auction was delayed so this year’s auction offered two years-worth of properties.

Property that did not sell during the auction will be available after 30 days and can be bought through an online auction by viewing the Post-Auction Sales List at www.cosl.org.
