The Dollarway School District and the Pine Bluff School District will annex into one district as of July 1 after a 7-0 vote by the Arkansas Board of Education on Thursday.

Dollarway currently has 920 students, and was taken over by the state due to academic and financial issues.

The terms of the agreement call for the district to be called the Pine Bluff School District and to operate under one superintendent. If any buildings from either school district are to be closed the Department of Education must approve of the closures for as long as the Pine Bluff School District remains under state control.
