The Star City School Board has tabled a request to update the press box at the school’s football field until an itemized list of expenses could be given to them.

At a meting of the board Dec. 14, Superintendent Jordan Frizzell said the old press box was built in 1997, leaks, is falling apart, and is too small for what is needed to operate the various technologies that use it such as streaming games, radio announcers, etc.

The project was estimated to cost $250,000 but Frizzell said he met with Moser Construction, who did the arena, and was able to get the cost down to $160,000 for a 40-foot by 12-foot structure with 5-foot walkway.

Frizzell said he had looked at premade press boxes and the cost for purchase and installation wa around $190,000.

Current enrollment in the district was listed as 1,390, an increase of two students from last month.
