Star City Mayor Paul Carter said Monday that according to census figures, the city’s population dropped by 99 which he described as not being right.

At a meeting of the City Council Monday, Carter said that after the first of the year, when all the numbers are in, the city will explore their options on getting a more accurate count.

In other business, the council recognized David Rochelle, who retired in August after working as Building Inspector for 19 years.

Carter told the council that the city has filled out paperwork from the state for a needs assessment survey and requested $816,000 to replace a mile of water mains and $689,000 to replace 1.5 miles of sewer mains.

Star City has also applied for a Fun Park grant of $75,000 with a match of $24,670 needed to match it.
