The City Council at Star City last week discussed storm warning sirens and Mayor Paul Carter said a service technician from Dallas will come look at the sirens.

According to the Lincoln Ledger newspaper, Council member David McCoy said he had checked all the sirens and found problems with some of them, including the one at the industrial park that did not make a sound, the one on Highway 293 that was not working and possibly not getting the radio signal and the one by the daycare center that has batteries that are not working.

Carter said he had contacted the manufacturer about the problems.

In his report, Carter said trash has become a problem in Star City with people not obeying the no littering policy.

Carter said the broadband grant offered by the state to improve internet services is going well. He said the $3.6 million project will provide better speed and services and said the deadline to have it all operational is in September.
