Nearly 3,500 middle school and high school students stepped up to the firing line last weekend to compete in the Arkansas Game and Fish Archery in the Schools regional qualifying tournaments. After the dust settled, 105 teams advanced to the state competition next month in Hot Springs.

Both the Middle School and High School teams from Star City are moving on.

The teams are coached by Terry Young and he was as guest of Rick Walker on Sunrise Deltaplex to talk about his team’s success.

Walker asked him why the sport is growing so fast across the state and particularly in Star City.

Walker asked him if more and more girls are getting involved.

He also asked Young if he sees the interest starting younger.

The state competition will be March 3-4 at Bank OZK Arena in Hot Springs.
