Cleveland County School District Superintendent Davy King has reported  that staff reductions have saved the district more nearly $420,000.

In a report to the district published in the Cleveland County Hearld, King five classified positions and four certified positions have been eliminated since last year.

King went on to say that payroll is the district’s largest expense and with the reductions, the overall cost for salaries fell from $5,407,163 last year to $4,987,641 this year.

On another subject, King said the cafeteria expansion has been completed but the floor still needs to be refinished, and the contractor prefers to wait until an extended break like Thanksgiving to do that.
