Before he chose not to run for reelection, Edward Spears had served as a member of the Jefferson County Quorum Court representing District 13, which is across the Arkansas River and includes Altheimer, Wabbaseka, Tucker, Wright-Pastoria, and other small communities.
On Tuesday, Spears won his seat back, defeating incumbent Justice of the Peace Brenda Bishop Gaddy by 16 votes. 323 to 307.
Wednesday morning, Spears was asked why he wanted to come back to the county’s legislative body.
He was also asked what he wanted to accomplish and answered this way.
