Southeast Arkansas currently under Heat Advisory

A Heat Advisory remains in effect from noon until 7 p.m. Wednesday. Heat index values of 105 to 110 are expected Wednesday afternoon.

Very warm and humid conditions will contribute to heat stress conditions.

The impact of the hot temperatures will include high humidity which can contribute to dangerous heat stress conditions. NWS also suggested that residents drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments to reduce risks outdoors.

When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke. They added to wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. If you suspect someone is having a heatstroke, call 9-1-1 immediately.
