Soundgarden has premiered a new video for “Non-State Actor,” a track off the band’s 2012 reunion album, King Animal.

The clip features a close-up of the American flag, with the stars replaced by the King Animal logo.

“This post is in recognition of Flag Day which was two weeks ago, but, hey, give us a break!” Soundgarden says.

Flag Day, of course, is June 14, which was two days before the surviving Soundgarden members — Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron and Ben Shepherd — announced that they had reached a “temporary agreement” over the band’s website and social media accounts with Vicky Cornell, the widow of late frontman Chris Cornell.

Amid the ongoing lawsuit between the the Soundgarden members and Vicky Cornell, the band had accused her of withholding from them the passwords to the accounts. The “temporary agreement,” announced June 16, gives Soundgarden back the passwords and control of the accounts.

The lawsuit, which began in December 2019, began over a series of recordings Chris Cornell possessed prior to his death in May 2017, which are purported to be for a new Soundgarden album to follow King Animal.
