The possibility of a solar farm in Grant County was one of the topics of discussion during a meeting of the Quorum Court on Feb. 23.
According to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper, a company is interested in a 1,000 acre plot of land near the Jefferson County line. Timber is currently grown on the land and brings in about $1,800 annually in property taxes.
The newspaper reported that if the deal goes through, the land would be commercial property and generate more than $346,000 in property taxes.
Grant County Judge Randy Pruitt said nothing has been set in stone and there has only been one meeting with the company and their attorney.
