A Tuesday post on social media inviting residents to a court hearing dealing with the Saracen Cinema and the Pines Mall and an apparent party afterward is inaccurate.

The post came apparently came from Steven Mays Jr., one of the owners of the theater which, like the mall, is shut down.

While the post says the court hearing will be Dec. 9, a motion for summary judgment, filed by Mays’ attorney, also indicates that Judge Rob Wyatt will hear that case on Jan. 15. It goes on to order all parties, including Judy Vu and other members of her family, who owned the mall, to be present.

“Vu destroyed an iconic business in Pine Bluff and plenty of job,” the post said.  “We need her out of here and justice served so that our city can continue to move forward.”

The social media post went on to say “Bring your signs. Banners and Food will be provided. It will be a Victorious Day for the community. Southeast Arkansas will again be able to enjoy a movie at the independently owned and operated Saracen Cinema 8.
