Interim Pine Bluff Police Chief Lloyd Franklin Sr. on Wednesday said there was only one homicide reported in the city limits in September and that one involved an individual who broke into a house and was shot to death by the homeowner.

Appearing on the Oldies 101.3 morning show, Franklin talked about that case.

Franklin was also asked if there had been a decrease in overall crime since he took over as chief.

As he has in previous months, Franklin said there are some members of the department who don’t support the changes he has made to reduce crime, saying that you could count the number on two hands. He declined to identify them but said he is getting support from many members of the department and from the public.
