PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) _ Simmons First National Corp. (SFNC) on Monday reported third-quarter earnings of $65.9 million.

The Pine Bluff, Arkansas-based bank said it had earnings of 60 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 63 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 42 cents per share.

The bank holding company posted revenue of $251.6 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $225.5 million, also beating Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $206 million.

Simmons First National shares have dropped 36% since the beginning of the year. The stock has fallen 27% in the last 12 months.
