Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies are currently investigating a homicide after the body of a man was found on the roadside in the area of Elkins Road and Minton Road at 12:17 p.m.

Major Gary McClain said in a press release that the man suffered from what appeared to be a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Chad Kelley. The name of the victim is being withheld pending further investigation.

The body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy.

Shortly after arriving at the scene, witnesses described a vehicle that was believed to be involved and deputies located a vehicle matching that description and a person of interest at the Huddle House at 7335 Sheridan Road in White Hall.
