The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is in search of a suspect who was captured on camera stealing a package off of a resident’s porch located on the 6500 block of Silver Fawn Drive in Pine Bluff, AR.

The Sheriff’s office released a statement review of the homeowner’s video surveillance system outside the residence that captured what appeared to be a white Dodge Nitro arriving in front of the residence. An unknown white female suspect can be seen exciting the right rear passenger door of the SUV. Upon exiting the vehicle, the suspect walked up the driveway to the front door, where she is then captured on video surveillance picking up a brown package from the doorstep of the residence and returning to the SUV. The SUV is then seen fleeing the area.

Jefferson County Sheriff Lafayette Woods Jr. gave a statement precautioning residents on these type of disturbances:

“Some people make planned or targeted attacks in that they follow the delivery trucks to try to see what they are carrying and to see if anybody comes to the door,” said Sheriff Woods. “We have also seen some random thefts where thieves either drive around various neighborhoods or simply travel on foot looking to capitalize off an opportunity. What is most important is to be on the lookout for your neighbors and watch your surroundings.”

To prevent package stealing the Sheriff added, “We recommend residents invest in a home surveillance video for the front of their home and even the rear.”

The Sheriff’s office also advised residents to monitor online sales such as eBay, Craigslist, and Facebook for potentially stolen items.
