The Sheridan School Board had a short meeting Monday night where it was announced that Director of Athletics Matt Scarbrough has been named the Athletic Director of the Year for the State of Arkansas.

Scarbrough, who was named Class 5A Athletic Director of the Year last week before being named Athletic Director of the Year for the State of Arkansas spoke with Deltaplex News about what the honor means to him.

He will now go up for National Athletic Director of the Year. He spoke about what that process will be like.

Scarbrough also spoke about his goals for the Sheridan athletic department moving forward.

Despite rumors on social media, the school board did not vote to hire a head football coach at Monday night’s meeting. The board accepted the resignation of former head coach Larry McBroom on February 23, and a search has been ongoing since then.

There has been no time table given for how quickly the board may vote on the next head football coach.
