A Sheridan man was killed in a one-vehicle accident in Grant County Thursday morning.
Jeremy S. Kumpe, 31, died when the vehicle he was driving on Grant County Road 51 struck a deer that was in the roadway.
According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas Department of Public Safety, Kumpe swerved left to avoid the deer but struck it anyway and the vehicle started spinning counterclockwise before running off the west side of the road and overturning.
Kumpe was pronounced dead at the scene by Grant County Coroner Michael Walton.
The accident was reported at 535 a.m. in the 5300 block of Grant County Road 51.
The death was the 261st recorded so far this year on the state’s highways.
