A new policy for solid-waste disposal fees is in the works for Grant County, according to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper.
The new fee structure would be based on weight, rather than the volume and type of load but a new scale at the waste disposal center will change that.
Use of that scale, however, will require an ordinance being adopted by the Quorum Court.
County Judge Randy Pruitt told the newspaper the county is currently gathering data to determine a fair weight price.
He went on to say that the current $600,000 budget covers all expenses for the center and does not rely on tax dollars.
Once that data is collected, it will be presented to the Quorum Court to fix the fees to use the facility.
