Following nearly three hours of public comments from district parents the Sheridan School Board voted 5-2 to keep the current optional masking mandate in place for three weeks before returning to re-examine data from quarantine and COVID positive student numbers.

The Monday night meeting was called after the district experienced a high number of quarantines during the first two weeks of school.

The board will also seek clarification on quarantine guidelines from the State of Arkansas in order to better understand exactly who should and shouldn’t be quarantined in order to possibly cut down on quarantine numbers.

The next Sheridan School Board meeting is scheduled for September 20th. The policy will be revisited at that time.
