A recent grant of almost $75,000 has helped the Sheridan Police Department improve its efficiency, according to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper.

At a recent meeting of the City Council, new items for the department were discussed, including Phase II radios, with six new car radios and six handheld radios ensuring that all vehicles have up-to-date technology.

Other items included five less-lethal launchers to enhance the safety of officers on the street and at the jail, gas masks and a new deployable Ballistic shield for the school resource program to provide rapid protection and engagement capabilities in critical situations.
