A man and woman from Sheridan were killed Friday in an accident on I-530, according to a report from the Arkansas State Police.
According to the report, 62-year-old Bryan Atkinson was driving a 2013 GMC Sierra southbound near Exit 3 (Dixon Road exit) on I-530 at 11;28 a.m. Friday when the truck ran off of the roadway. The truck struck a tree on the west side of the interstate and became engulfed in flames.
Both Bryan Atkinson and his passenger, 74-year-old Patricia Atkinson, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Pulaski County Coroner.
The weather was cloudy and roads were dry at the time of the accident, according to the report.
To date. 490 people have died on Arkansas highways in 2024.
