Sheridan Parks and Recreation Director Joel Stanton has been given permission to negotiate a price to renovate the concession stand and restrooms at the ballpark.

According to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper, Stanton told the Sheridan City Council on Feb. 2 that the city received seven bids on the project, ranging from $500,000 to $650,000, with A-Plus Builders, locally owned by Mike Henry submitting the lowest bid at just below $500,000.

The newspaper reported that Stanton said he had hoped to negotiate a bid closer to the $350,000 to $400,000 range and things there are some things that can be tweaked to lower the price. Those included using concrete instead of ceramic tile in the bathroom area, which Stanton said would be “more practical and cost effective.”

The project will improve facilities at the ballpark including adding a dressing room and shower for umpires and Mayor Wise said the lack of restrooms has played a part in Sheridan being passed up for hosting tournaments in recent years.
