The Sheridan City Council at its most recent meeting approved the annexation of eight acres that will see a hotel and shopping center inside the city limits.

According to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper, Dr. Scott Winston is developing the land on the western edge of the city, with half of the acreage being devoted to a 72-rooom Holiday Inn while the remainder will see four new businesses open.

Estimates are that the hotel will cost between $9 and $10 million to construct and another $1.6 million for the shopping Center.

The newspaper quoted Winston as saying that type of investment has not been seen in Sheridan in decades.

The shopping center will house a second location for the White Hall Fresh Market, a day spa for women, a sit-down version of the Blue Pig BBQ which currently has only a takeout location, and a women’s boutique.

The hotel is expected to open next year, and Winston said construction on the shopping center is about halfway completed
