Arkansas Republican State Sen. Trent Garner from El Dorado filed a bill Wednesday that would eliminate the state income tax.  Garner tweeted, “BOLD reforms require BOLD actions” in reference to filing the bill.

The state says it collected $2.41 billion in individual income tax since the fiscal year began in July of last year.  The Department of Finance and Administration also says the state’s gross revenue was $4.9 billion during the same time period.

The revenue from the state’s income tax is up 11.8 over what the budget forecasted and is up 8.4 percent this fiscal year compared to last year at this time.
