The Sheridan City Council has approved a request from District Judge Billy Jack Gibson to buy new security cameras for the courtroom.

At the most recent meeting of the council, City Clerk/Treasurer Carrie Smith reported that Gibson had submitted a request for just under $5,000 to pay for the cameras and their installation.

The Sheridan Headlight newspaper reported that the cameras will be purchased from Old Arkansas Alarms at Beebe.

In other business, the newspaper reported that Sheridan Parks and Recreation Director Joel Stanton informed the council that A-Plus Builders, the contractor in charge of the ballpark renovations had submitted a bill for an additional $16,000 in unexpected payments. He said the company had to jackhammer down nearly 10-feet to get under interior footers, which they had not expected.

That request was also approved by the council.
