Southeast Arkansas College is winding down the spring and its president, Steven Bloomberg said Tuesday that while the school is preparing to start its last quarter, it’s getting ready to start enrollment for the fall for current students.

Bloomberg told Deltaplex News that before the snowstorm and water level problems, a majority of the school’s students were attending class in person but after those things hit, things changed.

He also discussed one of the new programs, a course to teach commercial drivers, and the benefits of such training.

Bloomberg said before the pandemic, truck drivers were in short supply and he expects those shortages to get worse in the coming years. He also discussed what is becoming a major focus at SEARK, preparing people for the workforce.
