Southeast Arkansas College President Steven Bloomberg on Thursday told Deltaplex News that the school is teaming up with other groups to conduct a food drive beginning Thursday afternoon beginning at 1 p.m. and continuing until all the food is distributed.

Bloomberg said those interested in picking up the food should enter off Rike Drive which is behind the campus and across from the Jefferson County Health Department. Volunteers will load the food into people’s vehicles and the then the vehicles will exit through a second gate back onto Rike Drive.

Bloomberg was asked about food insecurity and if it was a real problem in the Deltaplex.

There will be no paperwork to fill out and the only qualification to receive the food will be to show up, Bloomberg said. He was asked if he expected elderly residents and SEARK students to be the majority of those taking advantage of the give-away.
