Southeast Arkansas College Board of Trustees met in a special called meeting Thursday, December 2nd to approve a resolution 2021-002 authorizing a $40 million building project of the construction of a new student center and student housing for their campus. Unanimously the board motioned to approve the resolution authorizing the sale of certificates of participation by the SEARK College Building Corporation to facilitate the financing of the development and authorizing others actions in respect to that.
Deltaplex Radio was present at the meeting and spoke with the college President, Steven Bloomberg who explained more about the process leading to this approval and the development goal of this project.
Bloomberg also spoke about the advantages of this building project for their students and the institution as a whole.
Bloomberg stated that construction will begin in Spring 2022 and that they are anticipating the project to be complete by Summer 2023.
