Southeast Arkansas College will be adding a full-time police department and on Wednesday received approval from the Metropolitan Emergency Communications Association board to link up with the system.

Karen Blevins, director of the Jefferson County Office of Emergency Management, which oversees MECA explained what the board did/

The current draft agreement calls for SEARK to pay $10,000 per year, the same amount the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff pays. MECA is funded by fees collected on landline and cellular telephone bills and by user agencies depending on the amount of their usage.
