The Saracen Casino has been open for less than a year but in that time has consistently topped Oaklawn in Hot Springs in terms of revenue and business.

Carlton Saffa, the Chief Marketing Officer for the Saracen Casino, talked about that when he appeared on the Oldies 101.3 morning show Friday.

Saffa credited the employees of the casino, noting that a couple of years ago, the land where the casino is now located was an open field where soybeans were grown.

“Now we’re competing with an organization that is over 100 years old,” Saffa said.

He said the casino currently employs 900 people, with over 600 of them being Jefferson County residents.

The big casino will celebrate its first anniversary Oct. 20.
