Last month, the Saracen Casino and Resort outpaced Oaklawn in terms of net winning and the amount of taxes that were paid to the state, the county, and the cities where the two are located.

Figures from the Arkansas Gaming Commission showed Saracen reported winnings of just over $14 million and taxes of $1.822 million while Oaklawn reported winnings of $12.59 million and taxes of $1.628 million.

Saracen Chief Market Officer Carlton Saffa talked about that with Deltaplex News Friday.

He also said even without the hotel being built, the casino is doing what officials hoped it would do.

Saffa went on to talk about efforts to build a database, something he described as “critical” to continued success.
