For the second year, the Star City Branch Library will surprise children who live in Lincoln County with some holiday mail sent to their mailbox.  The mail is an invitation to visit the library to pick up a free surprise book at the circulation desk that Santa left to boost literacy this season.

The library will offer this free book surprise program to hand out books to young book lovers before Christmas.  Children up to age 10 can participate.  After parents provide the home mailing address, the library will send a customized card to the child with an invitation to visit the library and pick up a surprise book that is gift wrapped and has the child’s name on it.  Library staff hopes to put a smile on children’s faces and give back to its community while exposing children to books and boosting literacy.

Lincoln County residents may sign their child up starting December 3, 2018.  Only one nomination per child is possible.  Surprise books will have to be picked up on December 20-22, 2018.

For more information and to sign up for a free surprise book, contact the library at 870.628.4711 or stop by 200 East Wiley in Star City.
