With election day just one day away, the Jefferson County Board of Election Commissioners has reminded voters that only those who voted in the March 1 Democratic primary, the non-partisan judicial general election or did not vote are eligible to vote in the Democratic primary runoffs. If a person voted in the Republican primary, they are not permitted to vote in the runoffs and it is a violation of state law to cross-vote.

According to a press release, the County Board of Election Commissioners will meet all day Tuesday, starting when the polls open at 7:30 a.m., and will remain in session until the complete unofficial results are announced they expect to be around 8:30 p.m.

Also, according to the press release, absentee ballots will be counted at the Election Center at 123 S. Main St., beginning at 3 p.m. and then processing results after the polls close at 7:30 p.m. Only a candidate or one representative of the candidate and the media will be permitted in the election center Tuesday. The public can view results via a livestream on the commission Facebook page @JeffersonCountyArkansasElections. Results will also be posted on a front window but according to the press release, the sidewalk in front of the building is torn up.

Also, The Jefferson County Board of Election Commissioners will hold a regular meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at the election center, 123 Main St, Pine Bluff, AR 71601.  Agenda items include:

 

Approve March 30 and 31, 2020 minutes.

 

Unresolved or unfinished business:

Election day issues.

Public comments on new business agenda items (2 minutes per speaker)

New Business:

Adjudicate any provisional or absentee ballots.
