Jefferson County Judge Gerald Robinson took an early lead when results of the absentee ballots were announced Tuesday and never lost that lead as he easily defeated former County Judge Dutch King to win a second four-year term.

Complete but unofficial results were as follows:

Robinson 9,608

King 7,363

Robinson collected 56.66 percent of the total vote to easily outdistance King, who served two terms as County Judge and was a former member of the Pine Bluff City Council and Mayor of Pine Bluff.

Robinson campaigned on his performance in office including resurfacing nearly 20 miles of county roads, giving employees raise and building three new buildings.

He talked to Deltaplex News about the win and said this.

I another race of interest, Watson Chapel School Board President Sandra Boone, who orchestrated the firing of the former Watson Chapel School District Superintendent Andrew Curry was beaten by political newcomer Connie Compton 812 to 366 for the District 3 and 5 position on the board.

Veteran Justices of the Peace Ted Harden and Roy Agee will be returning to the Jefferson County Quorum Court as a result of Tuesday’s results.

Harden, who has been a member of the Quorum Court for more than 20 years collected 1,087 votes to defeat Dr. Shaunte McFarland who received 392 votes. Or the District 12 position.

In District 8, Agee received 751 votes to defeat Eric Hobbs who got 437 and in District 6, Margarette Williams, who defeated incumbent Glenda Daniels in the May primary downed Robert “Joey” Matthews 922 to 786.
